Helene Johnson is the founder and principal of Next Wave Workforce Consulting™, where she helps organizations unlock the full potential of their people through cross-generational collaboration. With decades of executive experience, Helene partners with leaders to create cultures where employees of all ages feel respected, engaged, and confident contributing at work.

Her approach centers on cross-generational mentoring, pairing fresh perspectives and tech fluency with institutional knowledge and customer insight. By recognizing contributions across career stages, Helene helps organizations retain talent, drive innovation, and foster a culture of shared learning.

She is the principal author of The Journey of Women Leaders, a bold, practical guide to navigating leadership across generations. Before founding Next Wave, Helene spent over 46 years in information technology, leading growth for both for-profit and nonprofit organizations, especially those serving the federal government. Her background spans strategic sales, leadership, branding, and workforce development.

Helene is a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) candidate (defending in Spring 2026) at the University of South Florida. Her research on career agency among mid-career professionals shows that workers who feel empowered to shape their roles are more engaged and adaptable. These insights inform her approach to involving employees in AI transformation decisions. She also holds a Master of Science in Organizational Change from Johns Hopkins University and a degree in Data Processing from the University of Baltimore.

Helene is actively seeking board positions where she can leverage her deep technical background and workforce transformation expertise to guide organizations through strategic change.
