Meet Helene

President & CEO

Dr. Helene Johnson is the founder and President & CEO of Next Wave Workforce™ Consulting, where she helps organizations understand where their workforce stands during organizational transformation and gives their people a path forward.

With 46 years of experience in information technology and business transformation, including serving as Deputy CIO at the U.S. Department of Education, Helene brings both strategic depth and real-world credibility to every engagement. She is a strategic partner, not a technical implementer.

Helene holds a Master's in Organizational Transformation from Johns Hopkins University and a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of South Florida's Muma College of Business. Her doctoral research found that workers who feel empowered to shape their own paths are more engaged, more adaptable, and more committed to organizational success. That research is the foundation of the OWL™ framework.

She is also the lead author of the Amazon bestselling book The Journey of Women Leaders™ and serves in advisory and governance roles applying her expertise in workforce transformation.
