I successfully defended my doctoral dissertation at the University of South Florida's Muma College of Business. Sharing what my research found, because I believe it matters for every professional navigating today's workplace.
I studied what gives individuals career agency, the feeling of having control over one's destiny in their career. What I found is that the professionals who stayed motivated and engaged weren't necessarily the ones earning the most or receiving the best perks. They were the ones who felt empowered to shape how their work gets done and worked for organizations that respected and supported that agency.

Organizations are under enormous pressure to transform, and technology, especially AI, is accelerating that pressure. But when transformation happens TO people instead of WITH them, something critical gets lost.
